"Sometimes we clutch so tightly to who we think we should be that we leave no space to embrace who we ARE!" Today (and every day) celebrate you! xo

The suit

Just because you wear the suit doesn't mean you have to wear the mask...

To really embody who you 'be' in the world,  doesn't mean you have to shed your 'you-ness'!

You are the incredible you, not the incredible someone else. Once you have unfurled your own wings you can fly higher and soar longer. Continuing to tread down a path in someone else's shoes will only leave you with blisters and a possible sprained ankle.... Suit up and loose the mask!
It is your duty to keep the essence of you alive, that is what you owe yourself, the people you love, and the rest of the world!

Unravel

The more we unravel
The more we know
The more we find
We are all connected.

The Knower

Who am I? I am the “knower”, the one who is viewing.

I have many dreams where I am myself but I am also just viewing myself in my body, watching things that I am doing, still in full control of my mind, but also slightly detached from my body. I guess this is the closest I have been to understanding Atman. One way of looking at Atman is the practice of seeing “God” in yourself, your soul and in essence your true self.

We live in a very crowded society where our minds are constantly clouded and cluttered with our stuff. Our mental stuff and also our physical, actual stuff...(and sometimes other people’s “stuff” if we are sensitive to it)

Traveling, and especially backpacking is a great way to get perspective on this. You are limited to a small amount of stuff, and all that you have is all you can carry. If only things were so simple in our day to day lives. Carrying the weight of only what we need, what if we could do this emotionally and mentally? How much more freedom we would have to explore inside of ourselves and find Atman.

The practice of Brahman as I view it is seeing “God” in everyone and everything, the universe outside of ourselves. Being connected to all that is around us is the ultimate unification. Just like the nature of clutter within our own lives, the more we start to DE-clutter and free ourselves from the  instant the more we are able to connect to our surroundings. We become less attached to instant gratifications such as material objects, things of lust, and wants, we get closer to the real nature of life and the universe!

with the current or against the current

It seems lately the more I resist something, the more it starts to come my way, in second and third helpings... and the more relaxed I am then it shows up in smaller bite sizes...

I read recently that what re resist is usually what we need

This makes sense to me when I am reading it, but when it comes to real life I would rather go hungry in most instances, than have a plate so full that it is spilling over the edges.

So is it better to have one full meal of life and dive right in,  or smaller little snacks of it spread through out?
In one hand getting life's gifts all at once can have a huge life altering experience that may either change your course, or volcano. Or you may be going so slow that the changes are sustainable but could potentially not be enough to keep you on track.

Maybe what this calls for is a little more flowing and a little less ebbing...

Do it Beautiful

Every thing you do deserves to be done beautifully.
Don't be in such a rush that you just brush over things lightly, give it your full attention, and really focus in on the details.
Do everything as it was an outward representation of your soul.
You could do a million things with little effort, but it is going to be that one thing that you put love into that is going to make all the difference.

"No job is too small to be done beautifully"

Move like Water

"As large as the universe outside, even so large is the universe within the lotus of the heart. Within it are heaven and earth, the sun, the moon, the lightning and all the stars. What is in the MACROcosm is in the MICROcosm." (Chandogya Upanishad 8:1:3)

I am beginning to focus on the the infinity that we hold inside of ourselves, the spaceless space that we do not see...we can imagine it when we close our eyes and go deep inside.

The more I close my eyes, the more I am beginning to move in my life like water: without hesitation, going with the natural fluid flow of the current and reflecting all that I am surrounded by inside and outside.
